Here’s a quick look at the changes that you’ll see in QuickBooks Online in the release coming out in December 2012. These will be rolled out in two waves – some users will see these starting on December 13 (you are the lucky ones who get to test this!), the rest will see these on December 20th.

Improved Conversion from QuickBooks for Windows to QuickBooks Online: Intuit has been working on improving the process that you need to go through to convert a QuickBooks Desktop (Windows) file to QuickBooks Online, for QuickBooks 2010 through 2013. You’ll find a new menu option in the Companymenu, Export Company File to QuickBooks Online. If you select this you can log in to (or create) your Intuit account and sign up for a 30 day free trial, and your data will be converted from your desktop program to the online program. Your desktop data is not affected so you have the option of running both your desktop and the online version in parallel, free for 30 days, to see if you like QuickBooks Online. I plan on writing an article on this feature whenever I can get my hands on it…
